Newsflash!! Real life kinda sucks.
It’s funny how when something life changing happens to you that you weren’t really expecting, everything else just sort of gets put on hold. I’m sorry I haven’t been updating! I’m still in the throes of trying to find another job, dealing with my current job, and TRYING to stop worrying about how I can make rent until the end of the year. I feel like everyone’s life is bouncing along, progressing, and mine is just a black hole of NOTHING and WORRY.
I’ve sent out maybe 30 resumes. I’ve been on a few interviews. While I’ve gotten a couple “we really like yous,” I haven’t gotten ANY firm job offers. Everyone tells me to be patient, but time? I don’t have a lot of it.
Ideally, I can get an offer by the end of the month (is that too optimistic?), cash in my vacation days, and take some time off before I start it all over again somewhere else. Sigh. They didn’t tell me about this part of “real life” when I was growing up.

Best of luck, Nicole.
They should force everyone to take “Reality” classes in high school!
How to pay bills, write a cheque, cook a meal, deal with a job loss.
Not everyone’s parents handle that part of the teaching very well.

It’s obvious you are taking control of your own destiny, just based on the fact that you’ve sent out so many resumes and had interviews already! That WILL pay off! Just keep at it and be frugal for a while… I know it’s not much consolation right now, but I’ve always felt comforted in knowing that when something bad happens (well, with the exception of death), retrospect proves that it was just because something even better was in store for me.
GOOD LUCK!!

Dear Nicole, we don’t know each other, I found your site searching for Bridget Jones quotes. I’m a blogger from Hungary. I went through exactly this job searching story in the last couple of month. I sent out 60 Cvs and went to 22 interviews selling myself literally at each occasion. And finally I got a job which was worth waiting and searching. What I can tell you is that you gotta believe in yourself and you gotta be very patient. And be you in every cirsumstance. I finally left my company without having a new job planning how I would go into a pub or a café in the last case. I quit on Monday and got the offer on Friday.
It’s gonna work out…Good Luck

Ah, lord. As horrible and possibly selfish? as this sounds I was relieved to read your recent blogs. FINALLY SOMEONE…who is in a black hole of nothingness and worry with me. Being in a black hole sucks alone….have no fear, theres are many of you’s/us’s? out there…and its always from reading from the outside view that you can fairly say “it’ll all work out”…sometimes we just need to be reminded. Or we need to comepletly lose our brains and become desperate and crazed…then the water settles. Either way, it has to settle at some point. Especially, when the black hole is seemingly infinite. I wish you the best of luck on your hunt- until then….enjoy some Halloween candy, and maybe some whiskey.
